ZWIETNIG

ZWIETNIG are Ella and Florian and Zwietnig is their surname, for the sake of simplicity. Ella is a composer for film music, her partner Florian became known as one half of Mediengruppe Telekommander, works as a lecturer for music production and produces music. Both have grown up in the DIY music world, understand genres as an option and use the multi-layered impressions that the music world has to offer in their work. A long history of making music together with everything that goes with it. Creating, taking breaks, breaking up, trying things out, coming together, moving on.

A bit of Meredith Monk, Joan La Barbara, choirs, electronic noise genres, dancing and standing ones, A Second, An Eyeblink is a digital blueprint of the twenty-first century that manages to span a wide arc while remaining true to itself. The music invites you into an enchanted eccentricity, whimsical at it’s core. A constructed world, one whose template - namely, quite banal, life - wants to take the wind out of its sails and create a place of escape. The attempt to hold on to reality and allow closeness with fragments - a voice, repetitiveness, a piano, string instruments, woodwind? It might seem like coincidenes but it is, afterall, technique, inscribed.

A Second, An Eyeblink is warm, welcomes us, while the other, the outside, the familiar, is cold, repellent. The construction embraces us, then takes us by the hand and off we go.
